Tropical Buckeye (Junonia genoveva)

The tropical buckeye (also called the Caribbean buckeye) is very common on the island and can be found easily in grasslands and wetlands on the island. It is very similar to the mangrove buckeye (Junonia evarete), which is primarily seen around mangroves, upon which its caterpillars feed. At present I am not readily able to distinguish the two species, especially considering the potential for local variation that may make it even harder to identify them from photos of the two species taken on different islands.
