Dwarf Gecko (Sphaerodactylus sputator)
This dwarf gecko, like the other species on the island, is found in leaf litter on the floor of forested areas. Thus far I only have photographic evidence of this gecko on Ilet Pinel, but I am confident it is present in forested areas of the main island of Saint Martin as well. It is lighter in color than Sphaerodactylus macrolepis, and its markings are higher in contrast. The presence of large numbers of small insects such as ants and termites on the forest floor leads me to believe these may be the principal source of food for this species.
