Indigo Hamlet

The Indigo Hamlet (Hypolectrus puella) is a beautiful fish that we saw frequently on the reefs in Roatan. They are difficult fish to capture on film because they are extremely wary of divers and quickly move out of range. We found one of the best ways to take photos is to catch them by surprise while climbing up a reef wall to take a quick shot.

The Indigo Hamlet is easily recognized by its rich shades of blue. Most specimens we encountered were approximately 5 to 8 inches in length.
