Caribbean Spiny Lobster

The Caribbean Spiny Lobster (Panulirus argus) is common throughout the Caribbean. Commonly seen in crevices, particularly in reef walls or hiding places beneath stones on the ocean floor, we have seen it often while Extreme Shallow Snorkeling and diving. At night this lobster is more likely to be active and may be seen crawling the sea floor. It is also commonly seen in man-made pools and tanks in front of restaurants and, bisected laterally, on outdoor grills.
